| Papamoa
Hills Regional Park in the Bay of Plenty, opened
in 2004, was the first regional park outside the
Auckland and Wellington regions. The park contains
a large number of early Maori pa sites, with ditches
and middens (rubbish heaps), as well as terracing
on the hills. There are several tracks through the
park which can be used to enjoy the views and explore
the numerous archaeological features, including
seven pa sites. Walking trails are Papamoa Hills
Regional Park's main feature. Take a stroll through
the farmland and enjoy the panoramic coastal views.

Plaza, formerly Palm Beach Plaza is a shopping complex
in Papamoa, Tauranga, New Zealand opened in 1997.
It has an immediate catchment of 17,000 people;
this rises to over 200,000 people in the summer
holidays. There are 37 stores in the Plaza. Papamoa
Plaza is located on the corner of Gravatt Road and
Domain Road in Papamoa. There is road access to
the shopping centre from both of these roads. On
Gravatt Road, the shopping centre is adjacent to
the Papamoa Library and is opposite another shopping
centre (Fashion Island). |

KAIATE FALLS |

Just
a 15-minute drive from Papamoa, Kaiate Falls is
a multi-step waterfall hidden deep in the forest.
Take a 1-hour loop walk to the upper part of the
falls before making its way down to the base of

Location: 15-minutes drive from Papamoa. Take State
Highway 2 to Kairua then turn onto Welcome Bay Road.
Travel 5km then turn on Waitao Road then onto Kaitate
Falls Road. Part of the journey is on a gravel road. |
