country in the continent has its own unique perspective on Asian
cooking. Though the customs from different regions can seem
quite different, their commonality is unmistakable. Those who
would like to add some of this exquisite experience to their
own dining can start by incorporating some of the most important
ingredients from Asian cooking into their own kitchen. |

BROWN
RICE RECIPE
1
cup long or medium grain brown rice
1 1/2 cups water |
Place
rice in a saucepan. Add water.
Bring to boil. Stir occasionally to stop sticking to the
bottom of the saucepan.
Reduce heat and simmer covered with lid for 25
to 30 minutes.
Remove from heat and stand covered with lid for 5 to 10
minutes. Serve.
(Tip: you may need to add a
little more water when simmering to stop the rice sticking
to the bottom of the saucepan. Stir the rice occasionally
and add water if needed.) |

CHICKEN
FRIED RICE
4
cups cold cooked rice(use any kind of rice)
250gms cooked chicken
2 eggs
1/2 cup green peas
1 onion, diced, 1 green onion, 1/2 cup carrots, diced
2 tablespoons soy sauce
salt to taste, pepper to taste

Fry
eggs. Heat oil in pan, add onions, peas, carrots salt
and pepper.and fry them for 2 minutes. A dd soy sauce
and cooked chicken and mix well. Add cooked rice, green
onions and cooked eggs and mix well for 2 minutes. |

EGG
FRIED RICE
3
cups cooked rice
2 tablespoons oil
1 onion chopped
3 rashers bacon chopped (optional)
1 cup frozen peas (or other favourite vegetables)
2-4 eggs beaten
2 tablespoons soy sauce |
Heat
oil in a frying pan. Fry bacon and onion. Add peas and
rice. Cook for 2 minutes. Add soy sauce and mix through.
Pour eggs onto mixture and stir through until just cooked.
Use
ham, chopped sausages or salami instead of bacon

SWEET
& SOUR BEEF (Slow Cooker)
1
kg any sort of meat
1 bottle sweet and sour sauce
1 cup shredded carrots
4-6 cups hot cooked rice |
Combine
all ingredients except rice in a greased slow cooker.
Cover and cook on low heat for 6-8 hours. Ladle over hot
cooked rice. Serve with an oriental vegetable stir fry |
