SlowCooker

The
slowcooker is simple, safe and requires no attention while cooking.
Simply place all the food ingredients in the slowcooker, set
the slowcooker on low. By the time you come home, a tasty, nutritious,
home-cooked dish will be waiting for you. Add a salad or whole-grain
bread to the dish and it will form a complete meal. The natural
juices from the meats and vegetables are retained in the slowcooker
pot rather than boiled away, thus, resulting in tasty and nutritious
dishes. |

APRICOT
CHICKEN RECIPE
6
- 8 chicken pieces
1 onion sliced into rings
1 tin of apricots plus juice
3/4 glass water
1 1/2 tspns chicken stock powder |
Cook
on HIGH for 1 hour, then turn down to LOW and cook for
5 hours. Thicken it an hour before dishing up, with a
little corn flour and water. Comment:
Try pineapple or peaches for a change |

BARBECUED
PORK RECIPE
1kg
boneless pork top loin
1 chopped onion
3/4 can diet soda (Beer might work just as well)
3/4 cup barbecue sauce |
Combine
all ingredients in a crockpot. Cook covered on high for
5-6 hours or until meat is very tender. Drain and slice
or shred pork. |

BEEF
CURRY RECIPE
2kg
diced stewing steak
½ cup flour
¼ cup vegetable oil
2 large onion, diced, 1 cup beef stock
¼ cup curry powder, or to taste
¼ cup tomato paste
4 medium potatoes, quartered
Salt and freshly ground black pepper |
Dust
beef in flour, shaking off excess. Heat oil in a large
frypan and cook beef in batches until brown. Remove and
place in slow cooker. Heat remaining oil, cook onion 2-3
minutes or until softened. Add curry powder and cook until
fragrant. Transfer to slow cooker with remaining ingredients.
Cover and cook on LOW for 6-8 hours or HIGH for 3-4 hours.
Season to taste and serve with cooked basmati rice.

BEEF
ROAST RECIPE
2
kg beef roast
1 can beer
1 packet onion soup mix |
Trim
the fat from the Roast. Put the Roast into the crockpot
and sprinkle with soup mix. Pour beer over the top and
cook on low for about 8 hours. |

BEEF
STROGANOFF RECIPE
2
kg cheap steak, cut into thin strips
1/3 cup olive oil
¼ cup flour
½ cup tomato paste
1 cup beef stock
500g mushrooms, sliced
300 ml sour cream
Salt and freshly ground black pepper |
Dust
beef in flour, shaking off excess flour. Heat oil in a
large frying pan and cook beef in batches until brown.
Remove and place in slow cooker. Add remaining ingredients,
except sour cream. Cover and cook on HIGH 3-4 hours or
LOW 6-8 hours.
In the last 30 minutes of cooking, stir through sour cream.

CHINESE
HOTPOT RECIPE
450
grams mince
2 cups water
1/2 a cabbage
1 onion
1 packet chicken noodle soup
3 desert spoons rice
3 teaspoons sugar
1 teaspoon curry powder |
Cook
in slow cooker on low setting for 6 hours with mince on
bottom stir once near end. |

BEEF RECIPE
1.5kg
corn silverside
1 onion sliced chopped finely
10 peppercorns
2 bay leaves (Optional)
2 tablespoons raw sugar (Try
Golden Syrup) |
Place
silverside in cooker cover with water then add remaining
ingredients. Cover
and cook on low for 8-10 hours or on high 4-6 hours. |

RECIPE
smoked
bacon hock (pref Manuka smoked)
chicken pieces
beef pieces
pork pieces
small onions
potatoes ,kumara, pumpkin, cabbage
a very small amount of water |
Place
all in the crock pot placing the cabbage leaves on top.
Cook on high for the first 2hrs and then on low for another
3hrs. |

HAWAIIAN
SAUSAGE
RECIPE

sausages
1 large onion, peeled and chopped
2 large tomatoes
8 oz tin pineapple pieces and juice
1 Tblspn worcestor sauce
1 Tblspn tomato sauce
1 Tblspn vinegar. |
Put
chopped onions and sliced tomatoes into crock pot and
add sausages. Add the rest of ingredients.
Cook on HIGH for 2 hours, then LOW for 2/3 hours |

CASSEROLE RECIPE
500
gm lamb steaks - cut into 2cm cubes
1 peeled, chopped onion
2 chopped sticks celery
1 can of tomatoes
1 cup hot water
1 tspn beef stock. |
Cook
on LOW 8 hours. |
